But there was another book claiming to be a collection of Shakespeare’s plays that appeared a few years beforehand, as Chris Laoutaris explains in Shakespeare’s Book: The Story Behind the First Folio and the Making of Shakespeare. The First Folio is the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays, published seven years after his death without it, 18 of his plays might have been lost to history.
